I’m very excited for you both, and very excited to follow your journey!! I’d like to retire under the same circumstances you cited, and Van does too, he just doesn’t understand quite how to yet.
We will be talking about timeline in future posts, but we will start by spending vacations there, then summers, then 6 months, and once we are residents and ready to retire (10-15 years) we will be there most of the year.
Carolyn and Roberto: Nice to randomly run into you yesterday eve near the Mandela garden. As mentioned, have enjoyed your missives and observations the past few months on the la vie francaise. I'm here for another 3-4 weeks. Any chance you might available in the near future for an apero chit chat about the fun and frustration of MPT living? Please let me know. Can be reached via email at davliff@me.com. Á bientôt peut-étre? Regards, David
Love it! I'm a Texan looking to move to France. Finding a broker that works with Americans has been difficult. Nowhere near retirement age, so hoping I can buy something cash as I save more money.
I am delighted to find your substack on the France FB group! I am also in Austin and share the same sentiment, even though I am farr long from retirement but I do want to move from the US and to Europe in the future. Thank you for sharing!!
So glad I found your Substack! I literally laughed out loud when I read the part about “when was the last time you visited a friend’s new apartment in Montreal?” I’m from North Carolina, but I moved to Montreal five years ago. Learning French too! 🥰
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Facing similar indecision and looking forward to hearing more!
So true…. I’m going to Vancouver tomorrow to “look around.”
VERY interesting.
Did anything come of your trip?
Love you guys… so glad you are doing this newsletter
