The French are not alone in their fear of ice. I can remember my English grandmother asking for “no ice” in a restaurant when she visited the US because she didn’t want to get a “frozen colon” 😂

Fascinating! Our theory (first suggested by my friend Peter Bramley) is that ice WAS unhealthy when water was not all filtered by the city and it might have made you ill if it was tainted and melting into your drinks.
