Sorry to laugh but 😂 (not judge mentally at all 😉). We took the tram to Perol Étang d’Or on Ascension, fools that we are. We got marooned when, in the doorway of the bus, they cut off the line and the next bus wasn’t for an hour. (As an aside, why r they still paying in cash to get on the bus? Takes a year.) I spent a small fortune hopscotching down the beach from Palavas on to La Grande Motte with Uber to salvage the trip. I love you Uber. 🥹
When the Olympics are over, I will come and find this train with you, Sete looks amazing! And I also only have need of restaurants and alcohol…and not sand or sitting in sand. I am also fond of Uber and bicycles and long walks to nonexistent trains, so not matter what, we’d be set for Sete.
Sete is WAAAY overrated in my humble opinion so don't worry! I loved this post. When we went to Sete they basically changed up the whole train system as well (but one train at least ran!). The point of your whole story is there is no reason to leave Montpellier.
Ohh Zut ....forwarend is forearmed..stay out of Paris during the Olympics !!! I am told that Sète is absolutely worth the visit and I plan to go there the next time we get to France !!
We don't have plans to go to Paris. And we'll get to Séte - we've heard conflicting reports. Most people say it's gorgeous but a few people have called it overrated. Everyone agrees there's good food to be had. I have planned a bike route to get there and check it out, it's not too far, now if I could just shake this pesky cold.
I found it slightly over rated but we didn't spend too long there. But I do think it has to be worth going to see the "boat jousting". I wish you'd be here for that. In any case, we will absolutely drive you to Sète when you get back to Montpellier. Us suburbanites gotta have our cars.
What a day you all had! Sète is definitely worth the effort, especially since it's so close by to you. We visited for a weekend this spring and it is super charming with great food. It is also a seaside village where the French go to vacation (my French friends love it), so not many non-EU vacationers. We heard very little English. It is a great place to meander along the boardwalk or the canals.
