Have so loved reading all about this all year! It’s made me wish Rory were a bit smaller, but only for this reason - as the coyote scene has gotten so bad in LA I’d never take her hiking if she weren’t this size. Trade-offs. Am curious though how people are doing this with larger dogs. Is it even a thing? Luckily, Aiden is no longer in a carrier, but he’d also never need to travel this frequently, so win-win on that puppy. Please keep writing these and Happy New Year!

Your post brings back memories of our house purchase in France. Particularly the note about the power being cut. Lol! Buying a little piece of paradise in France is not for the faint of heart however, with the right attitude, it is a grand adventure. I love reading about fellow Gen Xers, like yourselves, who've taken the plunge in to French life. Glad I found your blog!

What a journey! And it's just the beginning. Bravo ! Good luck finding a solution for Rudy. Pet sitting sounds like a good one, can I apply? 😄 Edit: I just found out what happened to Rudy. So sorry.
